Rooted in Blantyre Since 1986 — Empowering Malawi Through Cooperative Sovereignty.
Four decades of member-owned dignity. We are not a profit-extracting commercial bank — we are 14,000+ Malawians pooling savings, funding each other’s aspirations, and redistributing every Tambala of surplus back to our owners.
100% Member Owned & Governed
From Victoria Avenue to nationwide branchesBorn Out of Solidarity in Blantyre's Commercial Heart.
In 1986, a cohort of committed educators and civil servants assembled in Blantyre with a shared frustration: commercial banking institutions were siphoning high charges and exorbitant interest out of workers’ paychecks without offering accessible credit.
Chitukuko SACCO was instituted on a timeless universal premise: save together, borrow together, grow together. For nearly forty years, we have proven that ordinary Malawians can achieve extraordinary capital independence through mutual accountability.
"A SACCO that provides quality and affordable financial services to individual members and organizations, in accordance with the best cooperative practices — because when members save together, everyone can borrow further."
Service Above Profit
To deliver quality, affordable, and member-centric financial services across Malawi, stewarding savings prudently while financing personal, domestic, and enterprise self-reliance.
Malawi's Premier Cooperative
To stand as the benchmark member-owned financial cooperative in Malawi, anchoring generational wealth creation, agricultural modernization, and resilient economic sovereignty.
Shares Doubled on Bereavement
All member shares are fully protected and doubled to designated beneficiaries with zero loan debt inheritance.
The Six Cooperative Pillars
Every loan approved, dividend declared, and system deployed is tested rigorously against our core values.
